What happened to African Americans after the 1870 passing of the 15th amendment?
July 31, 2010, 8:42 amThe 15th amendment gave African Americans the right to vote. Preceding this were the 13 & 14th amendment which abolished slavery, and declared black people citizens. But what happened, or what was going on with African Am.s during 1870-1940/50 (just before the civil rights movement)? Please state your sources so i can further read up on this. i just want to know why the 100 years of "freedom" was so quiet for Black americans. Your help is much appreciated. -
